The little paper that could has returned to its beginnings

Linda Dumont’s commitment to helping out those in need cannot be disputed. She is back at the helm of Alberta Street News.

“A street newspaper is all about vendors. People depend upon the paper to make money. It’s an employment program,” said Dumont, who is back to serving as volunteer editor and publisher.

Census 2016 will kick off in the north

While the 2016 census will start in May for the majority of the population in Canada, the far north is going to begin the national survey as of February, Statistic Canada announced Feb. 1. Early enumeration is conducted by personal interview and census questions have been translated into 11 Aboriginal languages, including Dené and Inuktitut so people can read the questions in their own languages.
