While the 2016 census will start in May for the majority of the population in Canada, the far north is going to begin the national survey as of February, Statistic Canada announced Feb. 1. Early enumeration is conducted by personal interview and census questions have been translated into 11 Aboriginal languages, including Dené and Inuktitut so people can read the questions in their own languages. Census representatives will soon visit households in remote and northern areas of the country, including Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec and Labrador.
