The ongoing effort of Frank Latour has paid off once again as he won this year's Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award for his work at the Canadian Native Friendship Centre in Edmonton. Recognition awards to Latour and several others were handed out at a formal banquet and evening of entertainment on Feb. 26 at the centre.

The bulk of Latour's volunteerism centres around the monthly bingos he works at as the banker. He also helps with Heritage Days as a cook and in the operation of food concessions at various functions hosted at the centre. For Latour, this is his fifth such award.

Two other individuals recognized as male and female Volunteer of the Year went to Lawrence Villeneuve and Roberta Badry.

Villeneuve, incidentally, ran a very close second to Latour as the outstanding volunteer. The centre acknowledged a number of other volunteers, as well as board members who contribute to centre initiatives.
