The Native Seniors Centre put the fun in fundraiser on March 26 when they hosted 200 people at the Polish Hall in Edmonton and treated them to the comedy stylings of the Saggy Bottom Boys and Winston Wutunee, and the music of the Jess Lee Band and Carl Quinn.
The evening included a luncheon, a silent auction and a dance.
Anne Cardinal, administrative assistant with the Native Seniors Centre, said the proceeds from the event will go toward hosting the National Urban Aboriginal Elders & Seniors Conference to be held in Edmonton in October, the date of which is still to be determined.
"What we are doing is forming a conference committee that will be made up of some of our staff and board members, as well as the community. It is a national conference so we are expecting Elders from the East Coast, as well as all across Canada. I'm so glad that the evening turned out so well. I'm so happy that so many people came to support us."
