For the past 11 years a number of the Edmonton Eskimo Football Players have taken part in a program called Stay in School. The program is designed to at use the players as role models to spread the message that being in school and staying in school is important. On May 14, more than 100 students in grades 4, 5 and 6 listened as Henry Williams, Jed Roberts and Rob Harrod of the Edmonton Eskimos spoke on the importance of education.

"We thought it went very well. Sacred Heart is a great school. We were very happy to be there. These kids are in the neighborhood where we play football. The enthusiasm that the school shows when we come in makes the guys feel very good, and if they are able to help one child who is thinking of dropping out, they've done their job," said Laura Burdego, Edmonton Eskimo's spokesperson.

"Professional football players all have post-secondary education and they've all been to college or university so the players use their status to say why they've stayed in school and how it's helped them with their careers," she said.
