A major water and sewer project has given more than 60 families at the Little Red River Cree First Nation community near High Level indoor plumbing and adequate drinking water. "The completion of this project means that the residents of Laboucan Village, Loonskin Village and Metsikassus Road will be able to enjoy and improved standard of living. It feels like we have finally moved into the 20th century," said Chief Johnsen Sewepagaham. "This project is an example of how the government of Canada, in partnership with First Nations, is working towards improving living conditions on reserves," said DIAND Minister Ron Irwin. "These community residents now have indoor plumbing and drinking water, which most Canadians have had in their homes for years." (PIP)
