CALGARY, June 21, 2013 - Chief Whitney and Council have called for a local state of emergency today. Existing emergency protocols are being enacted. Please try to maintain your normal routine as much as possible but be mindful of the dangers related to severe weather and the dangers associated with the rising creeks and rivers on Nation lands and in the Calgary area.
Any issues arising from local flooding should be brought to the attention of the Infrastructure Department at 403-238-6316.
Please keep in mind that all Nation staff are working hard to manage issues as they arise and that it may take time to get back to citizens.
Nation staff are responding immediately to issues that threaten life and safety and other requests will be handled in order of severity. Please assist Chief and Council and Nation staff by supporting emergency personnel as they do their jobs and recognize that calls may not be immediately returned.
By working together we will pull through the immediate challenges as we have in the past. Mother Nature is providing a reminder that she remains with us and must be respected. Thank you all for your patience.
