Tom Jackson and company made their appearance for the third consecutive year in Edmonton to bring folks the popular Huron Carole.

This time around, the concert attracted a big name as a special guest, that of Canada's leading country singer, Charlie Major.

Also performing was Toronto's Melanie Doane, who plays one mean fiddle and exhibited great potential as a future star. Doane opened the evening performance at the University of Alberta's Myer Horowitz Theatre, which catered to a sell-out crowd. Her act was followed by Luann Kowalck, Major, Shannon Gaye, and the Earthtones, a Calgary group who do wonderful harmony.

The final act of the evening was Jackson himself. He started his set with the classic and traditional "Silent Night." Then followed "Here Comes Santa Claus," "Dance With The Devil," "That Side of the Window' and "Home This Christmas." His final songs included the traditional Indian version of The Huron Carole, and a self-composition entitled "Humble Me."

This year's concert played 12 Canadian cities ? Ft. McMurray, Edmonton Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Saskatoon, Regina, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax and Winnipeg. The Huron Carole originated in 1987 as a means of generating food donations and money for Canada's food banks, which feed tens of thousands of hungry people. Edmonton was added to the circuit in 1994. It has been a sell-out all three years.
