Grant MacEwan College's annual Dreamcatcher youth conference is scheduled for Oct. 15 to 17 with some exciting educational workshops planned for the more than 1,800 young people who will attend.

Is CSI a career for you? Find out if the current popularity of crime scene investigation television shows could translate into a career of finger-print taking and evidence collection.

Or perhaps you're more of the artistic type. Learn the basic carving techniques and the various stages of completing a mask in the West Coast tradition.

Dreamcatcher has become one of the largest youth conferences of its kind in Canada and will commemorate 12 years of bringing healing and hope to the country's young people. The workshops and events offered are designed to encourage youth to pursue a balance of education and culture, network with positive Aboriginal role models and find ways to transform youthful dreams into long-term realities.

Workshops are wide-ranging and include topics in the areas of education options, career opportunities, leadership skill development, healthful living, traditional teachings and sports.

Young people 13 to 17 are encouraged to take part. Contact Grant MacEwan College at (780) 497-5170 to register. Deadline for registration is Oct. 8.
