Inspector Gibson Glavin would like to remind motorists that patience is needed on Alberta highways during this upcoming long weekend.

He would also like to remind motorists that it is harvest season in rural alberta.

“Other types of vehicles that we’re going to see on the highway. I’d like to pay special attention to, this is harvest season and there will be more of the farming equiptment that will be moving along on our highways. You need to be careful, they need to be careful. They take up lots of room. They move at slower paces and you need to be prepared to understand that this is important work and they need to get to where they’re going. And so do you. And we need to work together to do that safely.”

What should a person do if they are driving and begin to feel drowsy?

“If you’re feeling a little bit drowsy it isn’t going to get better by continuing to drive. That’s the signal that immediately its time to pull over to a rest stop, its time to stop where it is safe to do so. Get some fresh air, great time to do that, get some tea and coffee, take a washroom break. That’s the time, it’s the signal, your body telling you it’s time to take a break. Pay attention to it.”
