On August 31 in downtown Edmonton people gathered for the City of Edmonton's proclamation of Overdose Awareness Day.
Various people gathered to listen to a variety of speakers talk about overdose awareness and participate in a candle lighting prior to a moment of silence for those lost to overdose
“On behalf of Mayor Don Iveson, the City of Edmonton proclaims today as overdose awareness day.” Scott Mckeen said before handing the framed proclamation to Petra Shulz. Petra lost her son to overdose last year.
The street works team handing out valuable information on Naloxone, overdose facts, and ways of helping reduce harm to users while using.
