Obstetrician/ gynecologist to Fort McMurray
Alberta Health services has recruited another obstetrician/ gynecologist to Fort McMurray
Dr. Nnamdi (a.k.a Christopher) Okoroafor received medical training in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. He completed his Royal Canadian College certification, and is currently practicing in Labrador City, Newfoundland. He is expected to begin practicing in Fort McMurray this summer.
Dr. Okoroafor is the second obstetrician/gynecologist to be recruited to Wood Buffalo this year.
Drugs seized in Red Deer
Red Deer members of the Priority Crimes Task Force Arrested a Red Deer man named Allie Gator on June 17 and seized more than 10-thousand prescription pills and over 15-thousand dollars cash during a search executed at his place.
The task force opened a drug trafficking investigation in early June after receiving numerous tips from community members in regards to suspicious activity at the residence.
The suspect was arrested during a traffic stop in the parking lot of the Port O’Call Mall in downtown Red Deer at approximately noon on June 17.
56-year-old Allie Gator faces 4 counts of Possession for the purpose of trafficking and Possession of property obtained by crime over 5-thousand dollars.
Vehicle crashes into Edmonton Walmart
One person is dead after their vehicle crashed into the Walmart garden centre at South Edmonton Common early this morning. Speed is believed to be a factor.
When police and the fire department arrived at the scene at 2 a.m. the vehicle was on fire.
The person inside has not yet been identified.
Police have asked people to avoid that area of the mall.
The damage to the Walmart is extensive and employees have been told the store will be closed for at least two weeks.
