A box is not a car seat
A Mountie who pulled over a speeding car in southern Alberta near Airdrie says he was surprised when a hand popped out of a wriggling box in the back seat.

Sgt. Darrin Turnbull says he discovered a young boy playing inside of the cardboard box.

He says the driver told him the preschooler had refused to ride in a proper car seat.

He says the adult, who should have been in charge, ended up with a $167  speeding ticket.

The driver must also appear in court on a charge of failing to properly secure a child in a motor vehicle.

Battle River Basin low flow

The Battle River Basin is experiencing low flow conditions.

The Government of Alberta would like to notify users to reduce their water consumption.

It appears the water flow levels have dropped 30 per cent from normal conditions along the entire reach of the Battle River. When this happens, water withdrawals may increase stress to fish and wildlife by lowering the amount of available water.

This advisory affects the communities of Camrose, Wetaskewin, Provost, Maskwacis, Stettler, and LaCombe
