Assembly of First Nations Regional Chief for Alberta Craig Mackinaw says he is looking forward to “the promise of a 'nation-to-nation' relationship between First Nations and the government of Canada,” which Prime Minister-Designate Justin Trudeau has promised. Mackinaw says he is hopeful that First Nations concerns will be addressed in a timely manner considering the Liberal Party’s election platform. "I would like to acknowledge the 10 Aboriginal candidates that have been successful in the federal election, and thank the First Nations people for voting in record numbers, proving quite rightly that our votes matter," Makinaw said in a statement.
