The City of Prince Albert has been chosen as the site of the 1997 Saskatchewan Indian Winter Games. Approximately 1,500 athletes from 72 First Nations will be hosted by the city from April 1 to 4.

"We're actively pursuing these types of activities," said Blair Hoffman of the Prince Albert Parks and Recreation Department.

The city has a policy of providing recreation facilities without rental charges to these types of games, such as Saskatchewan Indian Winter Games and the Special Olympics, he continued.

The Riel Boxing Club is an amateur club for Aboriginal boys in Regina run by Les LaFramboise. It hosted young fighters from across western Canada at the North Central Community Association in Regina last Oct. 19 for a 13-fight boxing card. It featured boys from Edmonton, Red Deer, Saskatoon, Regina and surrounding areas.

The main event featured Wesley Sunshine of the host Riel Boxing Club versus Junior Moar of the Oriels Boxing Club. The officials were Morgan Williams, Belinda Bellegarde and Mike Kuzik.

Dear Editor:

Thank you for the story covering the educational initiatives at the College of Commerce and SIFC. There are some errors in the story that I would like clarified in the next issue of Saskatchewan Sage.

There are approximately 100 students registered in the two-year administration program--Certificate in Indigenous Business Management sponsored by SIFC and Commerce. Successful students can continue onto the commerce program and complete their commerce degree at the College of Commerce.
