Tsuu T'ina First Nation chief Roy Whitney is appalled by the conduct of a Calgary newspaper for sending a reporter and photographer to the funeral service of two Tsuu T'ina residents shot by an RCMP officer.

Whitney said all newspapers were contacted by fax and asked to stay away from the funeral services so the community could grieve.

The family of Connie and Ty Jacobs want answers about their shooting deaths on the Tsuu T'ina First Nation on March 22.

The mother and son were killed during a confrontation with RCMP at their home on the reserve near Calgary. It is believed the two were killed by a shotgun blast fired by an Okotoks RCMP officer who was called to the home to assist tribal police and social workers who were trying to remove children from the house.

For the first time in the 11 year history of the Community Futures business conferences, an Aboriginal organization has been selected to host the event.

From May 31 to June 3, the Treaty Seven Economic Development Corporation will see representatives from small business, government, and the Aboriginal community participate in a premier small business conference for Western Canada.

The conference theme is, "Forging a Future Together Through Entrepreneurship.".

The Fort McMurray artist, who's traditional Denesuline name is Dene K'izi (The way of our people), has made his way down from northern Alberta to Edmonton with two original paintings and a portfolio of his other works. By selling his art, he wants to make enough money to go back to his family's traditional encampment site in northern Saskatchewan.

Deranger is looking for help to pay for transportation back to Luezan Tue (Carswell Lake), located about 40 km south of Lake Athabasca and 350 km north of La Loche, Sask.

But more than 2,000 people crammed into downtown Edmonton's Shaw Conference Centre for the first international residential school conference, hosted on Feb. 23, 24 and 25 by the Western Cree Tribal Council. Three northern Alberta First Nations make up the tribal council ? the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, Duncan's First Nation and Horse Lake First Nation.
