Three Albertans given National Aboriginal Achievement Awards

When the Canadian Native Arts Foundation announced the 14 recipients of the 1997 National Aboriginal Achievement Awards, three Albertans were included in the list. It is a fitting achievement for the first version of the four-year-old awards to be held in Alberta.

Their first order of cedar outdoor furniture, due Feb. 15, was completed last week, and is being exported to the United States.

Reaching east, Far East
The recent "Team Canada" trade mission to the Phillipines, Korea and Thailand included a couple of Alberta Aboriginal representatives, Edmonton Catholic Schools superintendent Terry Fortin and Sawridge Water Ltd. President Walter Twinn were on the 13-day junket designed to increase trade and investment links with the three emerging Asian countries.
