On June 20, 1946 Lawrence Steinhauer and Eunice Jackson were united in marriage at the Saddle Lake United Church by Rev. Brick Thackery. Witnesses were Hector Jackson and Evelyn Stamp (Pruden).

Lawrence served in World War II from 1939 to 1945. After the many harships he went through, which many of us will never know or understand, Lawrence was given an honorable discharge and returned to Canada in November of 1945 from Europe.

Upon his return he was given a welcome celebration at the late Gus Steinhauer's and shortly after was united in marriage to Eunice.

Over the years this couple has struggled, sacrificed, trusted, respected and have had devotion to one another, and through their hardships and good times, Lawrence and Eunice stood together as one, over their 60 years of marriage.

They raised two daughters, Joanne Steinhauer and Betty Ann Cardinal, and have three grandchildren, Sharon Brertton, Leslie Cardinal and Nicole Cardinal, and have three great grandchildren, Kallie, Lawrence and Hope, and are expecting a fourth grandchild.

Lawrence and Eunice have farmed, travelled for handgames in Canada and the United States where they have made many friends, and today these two people are respected by many. Both in their 80s, they still garden and have a huge raspberry farm and still go out for lunch together, usually on Sundays, which they say "We went for a little drive."

To mark this memorable occasion, the family is putting up a celebration, for these two have faced life's challenges, shared dreams and visions, and their laughter and tears made them grow stronger and the love of man and wife meant to last forever is an example set by Lawrence and Eunice Steinhauer (Jackson).
