CHUM Television and the Canadian Film and Television Production Association (CFTPA) have announced the recipients of the inaugural CHUM Cultural Diversity Mentorship Program for Aboriginal peoples and visible minorities in the film and television communities. Four aspiring producers were selected for the new program, which is part of CHUM's nearly $20 million investment in programming benefits in Alberta and Manitoba as a result of its acquisition of Craig Media Inc. Joe Thornton of Calgary, a veteran member of the Alberta production community with 15 years' experience as a line producer/production manager, was chosen as an intern working for mentor company Original Pictures. Other interns are Andre Clement of Winnipeg, Jim Compton of Winnipeg and Jennifer Dysart of Banff. Her mentor company is Panacea Entertainment.
