Susan Aglukark has released her new CD called Blood Red Earth, her most personal and reflective album to date.
Written by Chad Irschick and Aglukark, Blood Red Earth captures the stories shared with her during her journeys to northern and remote communities, echoing the people?s hopes and expectations for a bright future.
The first single from the CD, ?I Will Return?, is currently in rotation on CMT and APTN. Blood Red Earth will be in stores on Aug. 8. Aglukark is one of Canada?s most unique artists, blending the Inuktitut and English languages with contemporary pop music arrangements to tell the stories of her people, the Inuit of Arctic Canada.
Aglukark said Blood Red Earth is a turning point for her as an artist, where she was able to lay out all of her own ideas, work with other artists who could help her flesh them out into song and let listeners know she has something to say. Aglukark said this album is ?like reaching that next level of liberation.?
Aglukark?s albums, including Artic Rose and Big Feeling, have sold more than 400,000 copies in Canada. She hopes to tour extensively promoting Blood Red Earth.
Aglukark has never wandered far from the Arctic roots that made her a Canadian singing star. though she continues to tell the stories that resonate beyond the tundra. Her ultimate message: To learn to be yourself and believe in that person. She hopes the message reaches out to capture the imagination of people everywhere.
