Students receive new financial assistance

Aboriginal students in the Moose Jaw and Regina areas have access to new funding through the Aboriginal Student Empowerment Fund, created by Farm Credit Canada and four Saskatchewan post-secondary institutions. The $50,000 fund will support Aboriginal students attending the University of Regina, the First Nations University of Canada, the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies and the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology. Greg Honey, senior vice-president of Human Resources for FCC, said the fund is designed to support Aboriginal students in a way that will help them complete their post-secondary schooling. The participating institutions will make a decision on successful candidates based on need.
