Stay positive and good will come

I've been in the country-side lately performing in a show. Between rehearsals I've had a lot of time to think and I've come to realize a few things, especially regarding Aboriginal people.

It's come to my attention recently about the attitude and policy of large corporations toward us. We as Aboriginal people have to become aware of the power we possess. Especially when our birth rate is so high, we combine to form a significant group.

Corporations such as Sasktel, Saskpower and certain banks are starting to realize the enormity of what our population will be in the next 15 years, and are stumbling over themselves to promote positive relationships with our people. Especially given the recent election, situations could one day change in Saskatchewan where the corporations don't hold such a monopoly and other businesses could move in with better Aboriginal relations and offers.

The millennium has brought change. It's time for our people to think with such changes that, with the Aboriginal community being so close, we've learned to work as a collective and harness the advantages. With such unity, it makes larger corporations somewhat nervous and tentative. Obviously, they wouldn't want to anger or lose such a prospective clientele group.

To summarize, our people should stay optimistic with such positive programs and opportunities being implemented in our communities. New leadership of prime calibre will be forthcoming as well as an improved lifestyle for us all.
