Saskatoon to host Indspire Awards

TCU Place in Saskatoon will host the 20th annual Indspire Awards on Feb. 15, 2013. The awards celebrate the significant contributions of Indigenous people in Canada and promote self-esteem and pride for the community and showcase the success of individuals who have the discipline, drive and determination to set high standards and accomplish their goals. Four of the 14 Indspire 2013 recipients hail from Saskatchewan, Winston Wuttunee, of Red Pheasant, Eagle Hills, received the Culture, Heritage and Spirituality award; Métis Theoren Fleury, born in Oxbow, was the recipient of the Sports award; and two of the three youth awards went to Saskatchewan products:  Gabrielle Scrimshaw, First Nations recipient from Hatchet Lake, and Graham Kotowich, Métis recipient, from Regina. The evening will be co-hosted by Cheri Maracle and Darrell Dennis. Headlining the show are country music superstar Terri Clark; Métis artist Sherry St. Germain, an accomplished musician, who was a finalist on Season One of Canadian Idol; multi-talented comedian, hip-hop artist and motivational speaker, Wab Kinew; and more.
