Eldon Lautermilch is Saskatchewan's newest Minister of Aboriginal Affairs, receiving the post following a cabinet shuffle on Feb. 17.

Lautermilch, MLA for the Prince Albert Northcote constituency, was also named as Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs. He will also continue on as Government House Leader, a position he has held for the past two years.

Lautermilch has been an MLA since 1986, and a member of cabinet since 1992. Among the past portfolios he has held are natural resources, rural development, and energy and mines. He was also the minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority.

The dual portfolios of Aboriginal Affairs and Intergovernmental affairs were being held on an interim basis by Minister of Government Relations Ron Osika, following the resignation of former Minister of Aboriginal Affairs Chris Axworthy in late January.
