The Métis Nation-Saskatchewan continues to be embroiled in controversy as members try to oust President Robert Doucette. A decision on an application for a court injunction against Doucette, filed by Vice President Gerald Morin and his supporters, was delayed by the judge until Oct. 10. The delay allowed the MN-S legislative assembly to go ahead on Sept. 7 and Sept. 8, but not without resignations, people walking out and people refusing to vote on motions. It is unclear whether changes made at the legislative assembly are permanent. The injunction application also asks that cabinet portfolios approved by the Provincial Métis Council last October be declared valid and for the disclosure of three financial matters. It also states “there be a Provincial Métis Council meeting as soon as practically possible.” In a news release issued by the MN-S following the assembly, it was noted that “to help the Nation move ahead, MN-S has engaged the services of Deloitte to assist it to understand the concerns identified in a number of external reviews and to address the underlying governance issues.”
