Local housing developments announced
Provincial funding of $2.4 million and a partnership between the province and Silver Sage Housing Corporation will result in a new affordable housing development for First Nation families in Swift Current. The townhouse style units, 22 in total, will be located close to shopping, recreation facilities and schools. The new units will add to the 24 currently under construction in Swift Current. In Prince Albert, a new rental housing project consisting of four single-storey, two-bedroom rental units are being built for Métis seniors. The total cost of the project is $644,000 with funding coming from the Saskatchewan Housing and Corp. and the Prince Albert Community Housing Society Inc. Homes are expected to be ready for occupancy in spring 2012.
