mispon’s fourth biannual film festival is underway in Regina, taking place over four weekends in four different locations in December.  It is called “Messengers from Mother Earth: A New Beginning.” The mispon Film Festival has been held every two years beginning in 2006 to showcase Indigenous filmmakers. Along with hosting an Indigenous Film Festival, mispon, a Regina based non-profit organization, holds workshops with youth, supports film makers, and creates bridges through film work between the northern and southern parts of the province. The word “mispon” is Cree for” storytelling.” Admission to the events is the donation of a non-perishable food item, which will assist families in need during the holidays.
