Homes for the Homeless floundering

Homes for the Homeless, out of Prince Albert, is struggling. The organization assists families and individuals to find homes in that city. “We are in a crisis and more important our clients are in a crisis,” program co-ordinator Janice Henry told the Prince Albert Daily Herald. Homes for the Homeless was a pilot program which concluded on March 31, but because of its success, the program continued with funding through its joint management committee of North Saskatchewan River Métis Local # 269 and Jubilation Residential Centres Inc. The program received dollars from various community organizations while in search of more substantial funding. However, the group was recently turned down by various funding services including the Minister of Social Services. Homes for the Homeless is still operating through the internal financing from North Saskatchewan River Métis Nation Local # 269. “We have at the very best two months to continue on,” said Henry. “Our doors will be closed as far as providing supports to the homeless community because we won’t have any resources to allow us to do that.”
