There were more than a few changes to Premier Lorne Calvert's cabinet on Feb. 3, with many MLAs taking on new jobs and creation of a new department of Advanced Education and Employment.

Pat Atkinson, MLA for Saskatoon Nutana, will be heading up the new department, as well as continuing duties as minister responsible for Immigration and minister responsible for the Public Service Commission.

Cumberland MLA Joan Beatty takes on a new role following the cabinet shuffle, trading in her old post as minister of Culture, Youth and Recreation and becoming minster of Northern Affairs and minster responsible for the Status of Women.

Former Minister of Northern Affairs Buckley Belanger, MLA for the Athabasca riding, is now minister of Community Resources and minister responsible for Disability Issues.

Maynard Sonntag, MLA for Meadow Lake, stays on as minister of First Nations and Metis Relations.

Yorkton MLA Clay Serby remains as deputy premier but moves from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Revitalization to become minister of Regional Economic and Co-operative Development.

Eldon Lautermilch, MLA for Prince Albert Northcote, is minister of Highways and Transportation, minister of Property Management, minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Transportation Company and minister responsible for the Forestry Secretariat.

Saskatoon Massey Place MLA Eric Cline stays on as minister of Industry and Resources and minister responsible for Investment Saskatchewan and adds minister responsible for Information Services Corporation of Saskatchewan to the list.

Former Health Minister John Nilson, MLA for Regina Lakeview, takes on the new roles of minister of Environment, minister responsible for the Office of Energy Conservation and minister responsible for Saskatchewan Power Corporation.

Regina Douglas Park MLA Harry Van Mulligen is the new minister of Government Relations, while Regina South MLA Andrew Thomson leaves the Ministry of Learning to become minister of Finance, minister responsible for Information Technology and minister responsible for SaskEnergy Incorporated.

Former Labour Minister Debra Higgins, MLA for Moose Jaw Wakamow, takes over as minister of Learning and also becomes minister responsible for Literacy, the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority and SaskTel.

Regina Qu'Appelle Valley MLA Mark Wartman moves from Highways and Transportation to Agriculture and Food. Saskatoon Centre MLA David Forbes becomes minister of Labour and minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Water Corporation.

Glenn Hagel, the MLA for Moose Jaw North, is the province's new minister of Culture, Youth and Recreation, minister responsible for Gaming, minister responsible for Saskatchewan Government Insurance and becomes the government house leader. Hagel also retains his responsibilities as provincial secretary.

Len Taylor, MLA for the Battlefords moves from Government Relations to Health, while Frank Quennell, MLA for Saskatoon Meewasin, stays on as minister of Justice and Attorney General. Saskatoon Sutherland MLA Graham Addley becomes minster of Healthy Living Services and minister responsible for Seniors, and Kevin Yates, MLA for Regina Dewdney takes on the roles of minister of Corrections and Public Safety and deputy government house leader.
