Seven Native artists were in Germany recently as part of a four week, pre-Christmas Canada promotion at Ludwig Beck, one of Munich's most exclusive department stores. Calvin and Marie Hunt, Alan Syliboy, Amelia Willier, Mark Dorey, Mervyn Child and Mikael Germain displayed their works to an estimated one million consumers during the expo which ran from Nov. 25 to Dec. 22.

Collectors and curators commission carvings, jewelry and prints from Kwakuitl and Mowachaht artist Calvin Hunt, considered to be one of the foremost artists of British Columbia's Northwest Coast. Since the early 1960s, his work has found its way to places around the globe.

He has worked in Hamburg and created totem poles in Bonn and Lahr. He has also exhibited in Vienna and at the Museum of Art and History in Brussels. Marie Hunt is well known for her delicate work with cedar bark, particularly in making doll dresses.
