Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal business people will be getting together in Vancouver later this month to look at how they can best work together to achieve common economic benefits.
The sixth annual Business at the Summit program will be held at the Hotel Vancouver Oct. 20. The theme of this year's program is "Aboriginal Business Development-Opening the door to a world of new partnerships."
Representatives from Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal business have been scheduled to take part in the day's plenary session. Among the scheduled participants are Brian Smith, chair of B.C. Hydro; Danny Watts, co-chair of the First Nations Summit; George Watts, acting chief of the Tseshaht band; Pat McKay, president of Franklin Forest Products Ltd.; Bill Gaynor, president of Weyerhaeuser Canada Ltd.; Gordon Murray, business manager of FSJ All Nations Forest Corporation; and Chief Henry C. Joseph of Dzitl-Ainli First Nation. Whaimuti Dewes of Whainiho Developments Ltd. in New Zealand is the scheduled speaker.
British Columbia's Minister of Aboriginal Affairs Dave Lovick, and federal Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs Robert Nault are also scheduled to take part.
