Incumbent Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Grand Chief Stan Beardy was returned to office for a third term following elections held on Sachigo Lake First Nation on Aug. 3. Beardy defeated two other candidates vying for the opportunity to lead NA-Brian Davey and Mike Metatawabin.

"I look forward to serving the people of Nishnawbe Aski as we move forward to effectively address the fundamental challenges of First Nations across Ontario," Beardy said following his election victory.

Joining Bearady on the NAN executive council are incumbent Deputy Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler and newly-elected deputy grand chiefs Roseanne Archibald and Terry Waboose. The three were among a pack of nine candidates vying for the three deputy grand chief slots. John D. Beardy, David L. Flood, Michael Fox, Ivan Iserhoff, Archie Meekis and Bill Nothing were unsuccessful in election bids.
