The Anishinabek Nation unveiled a monument to honour thousands of its citizens who have felt the impacts of Indian residential schools. “This memorial is part of the ‘Honouring Our Children, Families, and Communities affected by Indian Residential Schools Project’,” said Grand Council Chief Patrick Madahbee in a news release. “We will also be developing much-needed educational resources that document the truth about those schools, the children who attended them and the inter-generational trauma that resulted.” The ceremony, which took place on March 25 at the Union of Ontario Indians head office, also marked the launch of a narrative picture book and online education resources.
